AT's Action Run
Story
I'm taking part in Run 4 Refugees as part of the Melbourne Marathon to raise much needed funds for Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC).
The ASRC has been fighting for the human rights of asylum seekers for 13 years. The ASRC provides legal support, casework, English lessons, employment support, food, hot lunches, clothing, mentoring, sports teams and friendship to hundreds of asylum seekers each week. Over 7000 people have been provided with sanctuary, support and hope by the ASRC since 2001, and thousands of people have won their freedom through the ASRC's work.
The ASRC is a positive force and a centre of hope for people who have fled war, persecution and very unsafe situations to seek Australia's help. The staff and many volunteers at the ASRC do a fantastic job, and every donated dollar is used so effectively.
Make a difference by supporting my 10 km run with a donation. All donations big or small will make a difference in the lives of some of Australia's most vulnerable people! Click on Donate Now (right) and do something amazing!
Thank you very much for your support .... Andrew
Activity
ASRC Footscray (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre)
The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is both a place and a movement.
As an independent not for profit organisation, we are owned and run by our community. Our programs empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well-being. As a movement, we mobilise and unite communities to create lasting social and policy change for people seeking asylum in Australia.
We assist over 7,000 people seeking asylum each year from our centres in Footscray and Dandenong, Victoria.
